We Must Improve Our Health System – Nana Ofori On John Kumah’s Death
Nana Ofori Owusu has waded into discussions regarding the demise of the Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah.
John Kumah is reported to have taken ill last year and seeking medical treatment in Germany.
He returned to Ghana but his condition aggravated and was conveyed in an ambulance to the hospital but lost his life.
The Minister left behind six children and a wife.
Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo”, Nana Ofori Owusu, the National Chairman of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), complained bitterly about the poor state of hospitals in Ghana and inadequate improvement in the health sector.
Narrating an account where he had to fly his relative to Nigeria for medical treatment, Nana Ofori pleaded with the authorities to equip the health facilities to meet international standards.
“We need to improve our medical system…We need to make sure that we have the best medical care that we can offer in Ghana. This is because if someone goes to the hospital and the person is referred to Germany or India for treatment, it means if you don’t have money, then you begin to say goodbye right there. This is not fair!”, he remarked.
