We Need A Gov’t That’s Less Afraid of Letting Power Go – Dennis Miracles
Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 election campaign, has called for the election of district assembly members to be partisan.
According to him, getting political parties actively involved in the election of the District and Municipal Chief Executives including the assembly members is the surest way to improving the system.
He blamed the low attendance to the MMDCEs election on the less direct involvement of political parties.
“Go and look at the statistics of the turnout at the district assembly elections for the assembly members, do you know why the turnout is low? It is because political parties are not involved. Any time you go into an election in this country and it is partisan, the numbers are high than the non-partisan one”, he said on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
He further argued that Ghana’s challenges can’t be solved so far as things are centralized in the Greater Accra Region.
“Until we properly decentralized, we cannot fix the problems of this country”, he stated, stressing this nation needs a government with the political will to address the challenges.
“We need a government that will be less afraid of letting power go.”
