We’ll Win Dec 7 Election If Ashanti Region Gives Us 75% Votes – Nana Akomea
Nana Akomea has responded to criticisms regarding Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s long stay in the Ashanti Region as part of his campaign strategy.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is currently in the Ashanti Region touring the constituencies with his message for Ghanaians in hope to win the December 7 elections.
He has since visited several constituencies including Asawase, Subin, Nhyiaeso, Manhyia South which he toured in one day.
As the Vice President and NPP flagbearer remains in the Ashanti Region which is the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), some political critics argue Dr. Bawumia is either favoring the Ashanti Region or neglecting the rest.
Responding to the criticisms, Nana Akomea, the Deputy Chairman of Bawumia’s campaign team, explained that Dr. Bawumia’s long stay in the Region is due to his programme outline which is he visits three constituencies in a day.
Further disclosing Bawumia’s tour of the Region, Nana Akomea said; “The programme we have drawn for Bawumia is three constituencies in one day. Therefore, his stay in a Region depends on the number of constituencies. The Ashanti Region has 47 constituencies, dividing it by 3 will give you 15 days…So, I can’t understand it when someone says he has stayed too long is Ashanti Region.”
He further stated that the Region has over the years largely contributed to the NPP’s victory in elections, hence, to him, he would wish that the Vice President extends his tour of the Region.
“If we are able to get about 75% of votes from the Ashanti Region, we have won the elections. So, for me, Bawumia should even stay longer in the Ashanti Region”, he emphasized while speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
