Why Are We Paying Vice Prez Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s Press Secretary When Felix Kwakye Ofosu Is Issuing Press Statements About Our Vice President? – Fmr. NIB Boss Queries

Alfred George Thompson, former Deputy Managing Director of National Investment Bank (NIB), has questioned the relevance of a Press Secretary for Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang if even correspondence about her health cannot emanate from her office.

Mr. Thompson blasted the government for seemingly making the Veep’s Press Secretary redundant but being paid with taxpayer’s money.

This outburst from the former NIB boss is related to recent report about the Vice President taken ill and rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

Her condition, “based on expert medical opinion” demands that “she will be seeking further care abroad”.

This update was given by the Spokesperson for President John Dramani Mahama and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Sunday, March 30.

In view of this, Alfred Thompson finds it disturbing that someone will be appointed Secretary to the Vice President and can’t issue statements as important as telling the nation about the Vice President’s health condition.

“Rushing her to UGMC, it wasn’t given by her Press Secretary. It was given by the President’s Press Secretary. So, why are paying her Press Secretary? Why is there someone in her office sitting there and being paid as her Press Secretary or she is only there to travel with her (Naana Opoku-Agyemang)?”, he remarked on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
