Wontumi’s Arrest And Detention Smells Of ‘Mafia Tactics’ – Prof. Snart Sarpong
Professor Smart Sarpong, a Research Fellow at the Kumasi Technical University, has condemned the treatment of Bernard Antwi Boasiako a.k.a Chairman Wontumi.
Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, is currently in the custody of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) over allegations of fraud and money laundering.
He was picked up by EOCO officers on Tuesday, May 27,2025, following his visit to the Police CID.
Discussing the issue on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Prof. Smart Sarpong described as unacceptable the way Chairman Wontumi is being handled.
He noted that he expected Wontumi, upon reaching the EOCO, would be interrogated and allowed to return home.
To him, there is some mischief surrounding Wontumi’s detention.
“There’s some mafia tactics there. Let us not pretend”, he stressed.
