You Build Boreholes, They Say Pay Their Electricity Bills…How Irresponsible Can We Be? – 1st Deputy Speaker Blasts Ghanaians
First Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament for Bekwai, Joseph Osei-Owusu has bemoaned the character of his constituents and Ghanaians in general.
Joseph Osei-Owusu has announced his decision not to join Parliament next year.
The Parliamentarian alias Joe Wise is part of 19 senior Members of Parliament of the ruling New Patriotic Party who voluntarily quit their seats.
Addressing the reasons for his decision, the First Deputy Speaker noted in an interview that it is because of the treatment meted out to him by his constituents.
He shared his struggles for appreciation from his constituents saying like the citizens of the nation, no matter the good works of the leaders, they always have something else to complain about and, to him, it gets frustrating and tiring to continue serving them.
‘‘You build merchandised boreholes for communities. Some come back to say they can’t pay the bills, come and pay the electricity bills. How irresponsible can we be? These are some of the things that makes it difficult to be in public office beyond the general lack of appreciation and we want you to do his without talking about how we should do it.’’
