You Can’t Be Prosecutor And Judge At The Same Time…We’re Not In The Jungle!! – Ernest Adade Fires Kissi Agyebeng
NPP Communicator, Ernest Adade has taken a swipe at the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, over his engagements with the former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, regarding the latter’s alleged involvement in corruption cases.
The Special Prosecutor has invited the former Finance Minister to assist in investigations into some controversial deals such as the SML/GRA contract and the construction of the National Cathedral.
Following the invite, it was realized that Mr. Ofori-Atta had traveled to USA for medical attention and informed the Special Prosecutor who wasn’t satisfied with the former Minister’s account, hence declared him a “wanted fugitive”.
“The OSP declares Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori Atta a wanted fugitive. Mr Ofori Atta, you have two choices, you can return to the jurisdiction voluntarily or face the consequences”, “he is a fugitive from justice”, the Special Prosecutor said in a press statement and further stressed “you can either return to the jurisdiction voluntarily or the OSP will enforce your return”.
Kissi Agyebeng later removed Ken Ofori-Atta from his wanted list, informing the public that the Minister will soon return to Ghana.
“Mr. Ofori-Atta has been removed from the OSP’s list of wanted persons and the OSP ceases to consider Mr. Ofori-Atta a fugitive from justice pending his voluntary return to the jurisdiction circa his stated date…”
This notwithstanding, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), a day ago, issued a stern warning to Ken Ofori-Atta that he will be re-listed as a wanted person should he fail to appear for questioning on 2nd June, 2025.
“Mr Ofori-Atta formally requested the OSP to remove his name from the OSP’s list of wanted persons with the assurance that he would make himself available for questioning on a definite date. The OSP, in good faith and on the basis of Mr. Ofori-Atta’s assurance, granted his request and removed his name from the OSP’s list of wanted persons pending his personal attendance at the OSP on the definite date.
“Mr. Ofori-Atta is mandatorily required to appear in person before the OSP on 2 June 2025. If Mr. Ofori-Atta fails to attend the OSP on the scheduled date, he shall be re-entered on the OSP’s list of wanted persons and the OSP shall consider him a fugitive from justice; whereupon initiation of extradition proceedings in any jurisdiction in which he may be found.
“The OSP remains unwavering in its commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring that Mr. Ofori-Atta answers for his role as the prime suspect in five ongoing corruption and corruption-related investigations”, the recent statement by the OSP read.

Tackling the issue during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Ernest Adadde found the OSP’s approach towards Ken Ofori-Atta unacceptable.
Narrating how Ofori-Atta had duly informed the OSP and the current Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, about his travel to USA for health purposes, Mr. Adadde opined that the Special Prosecutor declaring Ofori-Atta as a fugitive and his latest warning to re-list the latter is a wrong move.
To him, the Special Prosecutor must not be seen to somehow settle a personal score with Ofori-Atta but rather should rightly apply the laws.
“He must use the right approach and engage in proper investigations. But if you just want to punish the man because of hatred, we are not in the jungle; let the laws work”, he told host Nana Yaw Kesseh.
He also slammed the OSP stating the office should not assume the role of a prosecutor and judge simultaneously.
“You cannot be a prosecutor and judge your own cases as well”, he cautioned.
