You Can’t Fight Corruption With Sensationalism – Kabilla Blasts OSP

James Kwabena Bomfeh alias Kabilla

James Kwabena Bomfeh, a former CPP General Secretary, has taken a swipe at the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, over his declaration of Ken Ofori-Atta as a fugitive and subsequently him the list of wanted persons.

Ken Ofori-Atta, former Finance Minister, is no longer a “wanted fugitive”, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared.

According to the OSP, Ken Ofori-Atta has reliably informed them of his early return to Ghana after reportedly receiving medical treatment in the USA.

The Special Prosecutor, in a statement, therefore says Ken Ofori-Atta has been removed from their wanted list.

“…Mr. Ofori-Atta has been removed from the OSP’s list of wanted persons and the OSP ceases to consider Mr. Ofori-Atta a fugitive from justice pending his voluntary return to the jurisdiction circa his stated date…”, a part of the letter said.

This comes after the OSP issued a stern warning to Ofori-Atta to come back to Ghana, stressing “you can either return to the jurisdiction voluntarily or the OSP will enforce your return”.

Reacting to the OSP’s update, James Kwabena Bomfeh, alias Kabilla, described this office as a “corruptly created”, stressing“you cannot fight corruption with a corruptly created office”.

To him, the country’s laws mandate the Attorney-General to prosecute corrupt officials, hence questioned the significance of the OSP.

On the matter of declaring Ofori-Atta a fugitive and later removing the tag, Kabilla cautioned Kissi Agyebeng against his use of sensationalism in executing his duties.

He cautioned; “You can’t fight corruption with sensationalism.”
