You Have No Moral Right To Talk About Banking Sector Mess! – Mahama Told

Collins Owusu Amankwah

Collins Owusu Amankwah, former Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, has slammed President John Dramani Mahama for blaming the previous Akufo-Addo government for the banking sector mess.

The President has accused the previous administration of collapsing some banks and mismanaging the economy.

It could be recalled that under the Akufo-Addo regime, banks such as the UT Bank, Capital Bank and others were merged into the Consolidated Bank Ghana as part of measures to rescue the financial sector as the managers of the affected banks were said to have engaged in financial malfeasance.

The banking issue was key among the campaign messages by President John Mahama resulting in his victory in the 2024 elections, however, he keeps reminding Ghanaians of the economic mess supposedly created by the erstwhile administration.

Replying the President, Collins Owusu Amankwah says H.E. John Mahama should focus and fix the economy.

He noted that the excuses and blame games are becoming too much, hence called on the President to refrain from such character stressing “this is why Ghanaians voted for you”.

“…you are in charge, do the job. Your excuses is becoming one too many!”, he exclaimed.

On the banking sector, the former MP sought to remind Ghanaians of the source of the financial problem stating emphatically that President John Mahama “superintended the collapse of the banks”.

“If we want someone to talk about a mess in the banking sector, Mahama has no moral right to talk about this issue”, Mr. Owusu Amankwah asserted while delivering his remarks on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
