You Promised 24-Hour Economy But Sacking Innocent Workers…This Is Very Sad! – Fmr. Amansie South DCE Slams Mahama

Clement Opoku Gyamfi, former Amansie South DCE

Former Amansie South DCE, Clement Opoku Gyamfi alias CID has slammed the government over its revocation of appointments and recruitments made after December 7 last year.

The President, John Dramani Mahama, through his Chief of Staff, directed that all public sector appointments and recruitments that fell within the aforementioned period should be cancelled.

Tens of thousands of people, primarily the youth, are said to have been affected by this directive.

Commenting on this latest government decision during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Clement Opoku Gyamfi was utterly stunned that President John Mahama who campaigned to create more jobs would now be sacking legitimately employed individuals.

He deflated arguments that this employment made by the previous government would be a huge financial burden on the incumbent government looking at the fact that they have to remunerate this employed population.

CID explained that before government would consider making public sector appointments and recruitments like the Akufo-Addo administration did, it would first acquire financial clearance meaning it will check whether or not the recruits or new employees can be paid.

Thus the previous government’s decision, to him, signifies there is adequate financial strength to support the employees.

“What I find so strange in all this is a government that preached a 24-hour economy that three people will do one job is lucky to have come to meet one person doing a single job, why don’t you just add up the other two to continue the job? You don’t even need to sack anyone. In fact, you will have to add up to the numbers. I mean this is common logic.”

He also pointed out the bureaucratic difficulties that cause delays, hence some of these appointments and recruitments, he noted, were made earlier before December last year but the people could only start work after this time.

“In documentation, one has to be very meticulous because the least mistake you make can disturb another person and ruin the person’s employment opportunity. Also, if you make a mistake that affects the government, you may cause the government to incur debt”, he expounded.

The former DCE therefore found the excuses by the Mahama administration very lame exclaiming “it is sad”.
