Your Job Doesn’t End After Election Because Your Salary Hasn’t Stopped – Atik Slams IGP

Atik Mohammed has charged the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to wake up from what he describes as his “slumber”.
Atik, a former PNC General Secretary and currently a social commentator, expressed disappointment in the silent approach by Dampare and his officers in the face of the violence perpetrated by some supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Following the declaration of John Dramani Mahama as President of Ghana in 2024 elections, the NDC supporters have resorted to the use of violence, vandalizing private and public properties and attempting to seize institutions unlawfully.
A recent incident has led to the death of about eight persons within the enclave of AngloGold Ashanti at Obuasi.
Also, some supporters of the party at Bole-Bamboi where the President hails from burned tyres in agitation over their Member of Parliament being neglected in the President’s appointments.
Atik, speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, wondered why the Police have seemingly refused to execute their mandate of maintaining law and order.
“There is this unspoken helplessness from the Police Service which for me is a bit problematic. It looks like Dr. Dampare has slumbered on his job after the election. It’s like saying there is a new government, so I am being careful, I am being watchful and so forth, therefore people can do whatever they want but it shouldn’t be so”, he slammed the IGP.
He admonished the IGP to come alive saying “your job doesn’t end after an election because your salary has not stopped after the election”.
