Go To Court And Stop Holding Press Conferences – Kwame Poku CID Blasts A-G

Former DCE for Amansie South, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, alias Kwame Poku CID, has castigated the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dominic Ayine for organizing press conference regarding his investigations into corruption cases primarily involving officials of previous government.
The Attorney-General, on Monday, March 24, briefed the public about some cases he is handling from the National Service Scheme scandal to a $7 million cyber defence system contract among others.
Mr. Ayine, regarding the cyber defence system contract, alleged that the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu Boahene misappropriated State funds to enrich himself and finance his wife’s luxury life.
The contract was aimed to strengthen Ghana’s ability to detect, prevent and respond to cyber threats, data breaches and digital espionage but the monies allegedly were diverted into Adu Boahene’s private account.
“In his capacity as Director of the National Signals Bureau, Mr. Adu-Boahene on January 30, 2020, signed a contract on behalf on the Government of Ghana and the National Security on one hand and on the other hand, an Israeli company named RLC Holdings Limited. The contract was for the purchase of a cyber defense system software at a price of $7 million.
“On February 6, 2020, he then transferred an initial amount of GH¢27,100,000 from the National Signals Bureau account at Fidelity Bank to a private BNC account at UMB. Official documentation on the transfer reveals that the amount was for the payment of cyber defense system software. He transferred the money to his private company”, he recounted.
Commenting on this “press conference” approach during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” panel discussion show, the former DCE asked the A-G to desist from use of this method where he levels unsubstantiated accusations against persons.
He explained that when the A-G does these things, it may damage the reputation of the accused persons if the court finds them not guilty.
“If the man has committed such crime against Ghana, I don’t think a press conference is important. If you have evidence, you are the Attorney-General, just go to court…If he has embezzled funds, go to court. Don’t tag him!”, he admonished the Attorney-General.
He also condemned the A-G and other critics who are putting a political twist to the issue, particularly blaming the previous New Patriotic Party administration.
“Why do we want it to take a political twist? To score cheap political points or what?…The person you are accusing has a family, goes to church, why do you want to tag him with a political party?”, he questioned.
