You’re Not Special Than The Ordinary Ghanaian – Yaw Asani Tano On Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s Medical Leave Abroad

Yaw Asani Tano has kicked against the culture where leaders of Ghana seek medical treatment in foreign countries.

The socio-political analyst questioned the rationale behind such decisions as to him, there’s no sophisticated health equipment that Ghana cannot purchase to beef up the healthcare ensuring every Ghanaian, particularly the political leaders, undergo medical attention locally.

His remark comes on the heels of a press statement from the Presidency on Sunday, March 30, informing Ghanaians that the Vice President, Her Excellency Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is expected to travel abroad following an undisclosed ailment.

The Veep was admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday but “based on expert medical opinion, she will be seeking further care abroad”.

Reacting to this development during “Kokrokoo” discussion programme aired on Peace FM, Yaw Asani Tano called for such moves to cease stressing “we should invest in ourselves and ensure we are all the same”.

“It is just by privilege that some of us voted for them to lead us; it doesn’t mean that they are special than all of us”, he lamented.
