You’ve Turned Into ‘Defence Lawyer’ For The Nominees…This Is Bad! – Kabilla Lambasts Appointments Committee Chairman

James Kwabena Bomfeh has taken a swipe at the Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor, over his handling of the ministerial nominees who appear before the Committee.

Several ministerial appointees have come before the Committee for vetting.

Among them are Sam George, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah as Communications and Technology Innovation, Finance and Defence Minsiters respectively.

During questioning of the nominees, there were times the Chairman would intervene on behalf of them.

One of such occasions is the vetting of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for Foreign Affairs Minister who doubles as Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) tasked to unearth the corruptible practices of previous government officials.

Particularly when the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin probed into the private properties acquired by Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Chairman interrupted a number of times, refusing the pry into the life of the nominee.

Making his submissions on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, James Kwabena Bomfeh, widely called “Kabilla”, raised concerns over the behavior of the Appointments Committee Chairman stating Bernard Ahiafor has turned himself into “defence lawyer” for the nominees and, to him, this is bad.

“Sometimes, I just watch the Chairman in silence. He is turned himself into a defence lawyer for some of the nominees before him. I don’t think that was right”, he remarked.
